One-Hour Consult Details
I will schedule the consult for one hour and 15 minutes, just to make sure we have enough time during the meeting, allowing for introductions and plenty of time for questions that may arise during our conversation. The consult will take place over Zoom.
Cost: $250. I send an invoice before the scheduled meeting, which must be paid BEFORE the consult. The invoice will come via my squarespace site and is processed by Stripe (which also processes Substack paid subscriptions, for example).
The author shapes the focus of the consult — this is an opportunity for the author to inquire about a specific area or areas of the campaign where they’d like strategic insights and guidance.
Strategies I will be able to share, tailored to the specifics of your inquiries:
Author-driven efforts to ramp up marketing/publicity efforts for their book campaign.
Ways to engage and foster proactive efforts from your publisher, and make the most of what they are doing on your behalf.
Areas of marketing/publicity/outreach focus based on the current plan and where the author is on the publishing timeline (what you should be doing right now, based on the pub date of your book).
Suggestions for improving or adding to the current plan, within reason — actionable, cost-conscious strategies and to-do list items.
BEFORE the consult, I will ask that the author send over the most up-to-date marketing and publicity plan for the book (if available), as well as the specific topic(s) and questions they’d like to discuss on the call. I will also be sure to review the author’s platform, as well as the book’s product page and current coverage/review status (things like the book’s Netgalley and Goodreads pages, as well as media hits and social media activity). Ideally the author is able to send over, as part of the updated marketing and publicity plan, any info about confirmed events, conference attendance/panels, advertising/promotions, and media/review coverage. If very early in the publishing timeline, then it shifts to ways to plan for those types of things.
AFTER the consult, I will send a brief follow-up note, which will include any links to sites, services, platforms, campaign examples, or articles I have referenced during the call, and likely a few reminders and campaign suggestions based on our conversation.
Keep in mind, this is just a one-hour and 15 minute consult, so keeping things focused and specific will make it more productive and actionable for you and your campaign.
