Full-Scale Marketing & Publicity Book Campaigns

I offer full-scale marketing and publicity campaign services to help authors and publishers successfully launch their books and grow their platforms. Tapping years of experience working at publishers big and small, and working with authors across the literary spectrum — from bestsellers to debuts, I partner with my clients and take the lead on developing and executing innovative campaigns. My strategic methodology aims to drive awareness, media/review coverage, social media engagement, essay placements, event and panel programming, bookseller and librarian interest, and book sales, as well as a cohesive path to forging long-term connections to readers, reviewers, media, relevant book/literary influencers and networks, newsletter publishers, booksellers, librarians, fellow authors, and the overall literary community.

Every Project Is Unique, But Here Are Some of the High Level Components of the Campaigns I Develop and Run:

  • Develop and execute a marketing and publicity plan that fortifies and expands the publisher plan for the book.

  • Strategize with the author to make sense of and prioritize the various resources and marketing/publicity platforms/programs that should (and should not) be engaged for the campaign. My belief: Focused, strategic efforts are much more impactful than doing a little bit of a lot of things.

  • Lead media and reviewer pitching/outreach across the media/podcast/newsletter ecosystems.

  • Influencer / social media outreach.

  • Book Club outreach, including both the major and more niche clubs.

  • Strategize with the author and pitch guest posts and essays for targeted publications and newsletters.

  • Seek out event programming/launch events/reading series opportunities.

  • Help the author navigate the publisher team plan/relationship, and strategize .

  • Strategize with the author on how to effectively support the publisher’s efforts for pre-orders, Indie Next and LibraryReads campaigns, and bookseller outreach.

  • Work with author to advocate for panel programming at key industry events, such as the relevant regional and national bookseller and library trade shows.

  • Work with author to expand their network with the long haul and future books in mind.

  • More more, based on the X-factors and unique variables brought to the table by the author and their book.

ENGAGEMENT: 6-9 months, but each campaign’s contract timeframe is determined on a case-by-case basis.

COST: Based on discussions with the author and an agreed upon campaign proposal.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I am a one-person shop, personally handling all aspects of the campaigns I work on. This is a key reason why I can only take on a select number of campaigns each year, thereby ensuring that I maximize impact for my clients and keep my bandwidth well-managed.
